The university always aims to cultivate talents with application and innovation ability, and actively explores the training mode of "personal development". Now the university has 1270 full-time teachers, 108 doctoral supervisors, 202 professors and 382 associate professors. The university had built two national experimental zones for personnel training model innovation, a virtual simulation experiment teaching center at the national level, four national experimental teaching demonstration centers, four national engineering practice education centers, etc. The quality of the graduates in CUST always gain well-reputed for employers, recently our first employment rate of graduates and the quality of employment ranks at the top among Jilin provincial colleges and universities, in two years, the number of graduates flooding into the world and domestic top 500 enterprises is 19 percent. Our university is rated advanced unit graduates by Ministry of Education of China year after year.

Holding a leading position in China, the potential research fields cover the aspects of laser technology, optoelectronic instruments, measurement techniques, advanced manufacturing technology, computer application, optoelectronic function material, as well as biomedical engineering. The university has built one national key laboratory, 11 state key laboratories, 2 national international technology cooperation bases, etc. Recently years, CUST has successively undertaken more than 1300 research projects leveled as national, ministerial and provincial. The great achievements were also made in literature, economics, management and law.

The university lays emphasis on international exchange and cooperation and insists the university openly with a world-wide view and has successively established international links and cooperation with more than 20 countries and areas of education and research institutes. CUST has a Confucius Institute in Russia as one of 20 lists of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Chinese-Project Universities. The university attaches importance to the teaching and service of international students and offers 57 undergraduate programs, 83 graduate programs, and 25 doctoral programs for international students to study for a degree; the small classes for Chinese study project have a good learning effect with great help for international students to blend in China life in a short time; we also provide good conditions and studying environment for international students; we hold summer vacations and winter vacations of Chinese culture many times every year, and more and more international students are being attracted to study in Changchun University of Science and Technology.
