School Introduction

Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology is located in Huadu of Guangzhou, a southern metropolitan city in China and covers a total area of nearly 283 acres. The college, formerly known as “Guangzhou Automobile College”, was established in 2005 and renamed as “Guangzhou College” in 2011. Guangzhou College is a multidisciplinary institute focusing on engineering and promoting development of economics, management, and liberal arts. Over the past 10 years, Guangzhou College has made a remarkable effort to cultivate applied and practical talents in engineering science and some other academic areas. In cooperation with ZTE Corporation, Guangzhou College established the School of Electronic and Information Engineering (ZTE 3G) in 2011. In the same year, Business School and School of International Engineering were also founded by introducing international business resource and engineering experts. At present, Guangzhou College has 14 schools with 30 majors, including three key disciplinary fields and six characteristic specialties. Now it has over 19,000 registered students including 16 international students.

 




    Guangzhou College values the globalization of education and has developed long-term collaborative exchanging programs with more than 30 overseas universities. Nearly 500 students were sent to over 10 countries like USA, UK, France, Australia, Canada, Germany, Netherlands and the region of Taiwan by joining the overseas research programs, academic exchanges, holiday exchanges, 2+2 and 3+1 international students’ exchanging programs. In 2012, Guangzhou College launched the International Exchanging Financial Aid to subsidize students who have performed well in academic areas. The international exchanges in teaching and research have promoted the relationship between the college and other universities abroad, and enhanced the prestige of the college.

     

    GCU values the “student-focused principle”; it aims to provide quality education and services to students. GCU has won the title as “China’s Most Competitive College in Job Market” and ranked on the top 10 of 300 in the latest National Independent College Ranking List released in 2015 and becomes the “First-rate Independent Colleges in China”.

     

    GCU provides well-equipped facilities for both faculty and students, including classroom buildings, administration building, laboratory building, engineering training building, information centre, library, sports centre, student activity centre, etc.
