Yuxi Normal University is a full-time undergraduate university in Yunnan. Founded in 1978, it is a comprehensive university with the common development of a range of disciplines including Economics, Laws, Education, Literature, Sciences, Engineering, Agronomy, Management, and Fine Arts based on the teaching education. Yuxi Normal University covers 676,300 kilometers. At present, there are 12,951 full-time students, 788 teachers and staff with tenure, 645 of which are full-time instructors. In recent years, the undergraduate employment rate has remained above 95%, and there have been 125 graduates employed in Thailand.
There are 14 colleges under the university and 54 undergraduate majors, one of which is Fine Arts, the characteristic specialty at a national level and four majors which are provincial characteristic specialties. The Mekong Sub-region Experimental Teaching Center of National Folk Art was awarded the title of the first Workstation of Inheritance and Preservation of Non-material Cultural Heritage by the Chinese Art Anthropology Association.
Yuxi Normal University has always held the concept of internationalisation at its heart. The university has successively carried out various forms of joint education, from exchanges of teachers and students to academic and cultural exchanges with ten universities and colleges from seven countries and regions. Our university has set up 77 internship bases throughout China and 25 abroad and 3 Foreign Chinese Language and Culture Centers. At the same time, we too serve as a Chinese language and culture education base for the Yunnan Province and a test site for the Chinese language proficiency exam otherwise known as HSK.
