Founded in 1953, It was one of the 5 universities affiliated to the former Ministry of Geology and is now jointly supported by the Ministry of Land and Resources and the People’s Government of Hebei Province. It is a provincial key university. Li Tingdong, member of Chinese Academy, is the honorary president of university. As the first educational institute affiliated to the Ministry of Geology in New China setting up programs of Economics and Management, it is dedicated to the core mission- providing personnel and technical support for the sustainable development of resources and environment. Adhering to the motto of global vision, broad mindedness, wide knowledge and the tradition of being hard-working, realistic and innovative, after about 70 years of development, it has gradually formed the characteristics of "resources and environment +", multi-disciplinary, collaborative development and deep cross-integration.
